How to get around Delhi?

To book your flight to India at the best price, find our tips and  advice for booking a cheap flight  on the internet in our dedicated article. Flight time is approximately 8 hours. The average price of a flight is around €500 round trip.

Prepaid taxi . You will find a counter in the airport terminal. After paying the right price at the counter, you will receive a receipt with the taxi number. This receipt must be given to the driver at the end of the trip. By going through this reservation counter, you will avoid any scams. The price is fixed and the journey lasts approximately 1 to 1.5 hours. It all depends on the traffic and therefore the time of your arrival in Delhi.

Express Train . A modern Delhi Metro  Air p ort Express line  departs from Terminal 3 of New Delhi Metro station every 10 to 15 minutes.

Local buses  run from the airport to Connaught Square and New Delhi Station approximately every 30 minutes for Rp 50.

Private transfers . Many hotels offer transfer from/to the airport. They charge for this service between Rp 600 and 800. Sometimes it happens that some hotels include the transfer price in the room price. This was the case with our hotel.

You have arrived in Delhi. We give you  the best advice for getting around  this urban jungle.

The Richshaw.  Practical especially for short trips in town.  It fits everywhere  and saves precious time. His trick: excessive use of the horn.

The Subway . Ideal for getting around the city in the comfort of air conditioning but the whole city is not yet well served. Work is still underway to develop the underground network. Ladies, there is a section for you. There is a  women-only car  at each end of the train, notable for its pink signage.

Very affordable option in India and convenient to see a lot of things in the city without spending too much energy.

Delhi at a glance

Delhi is a sprawling city shrouded in a  thick cloud of pollution  and bathed in the  incessant sound of horns . Delhi really puts the nerves to the test as soon as you arrive in its center. Fortunately, there are some havens of peace like the  tomb of Humayun  (the pre-Taj Mahal) or the  last resting place of Gandhi , a visit which really touched us.

Old Delhi , a veritable labyrinth of lively and colorful narrow streets, lined with ruined buildings and magnificent temples and mosques. It’s a real mess in this part of town but we like it. Very popular, it is the most interesting part of the city for immersing yourself in Indian culture.
